How do I get photos off an iPhone on a Windows machine?

How do I get photos off an iPhone on a Windows machine?

What’s the best way to get the photos taking with the iPhone onto my computer? The iPhone will appear to any application that supports direct digital camera import as a digital camera device, similar the older digital cameras that were used before they started adopting a USB Disk Mode. If you start up the Windows XP “Scanner and Camera Wizard” the iPhone should appear as a camera device in there. You will not see it as a disk drive in Windows Explorer, and applications that are simply looking to read a folder from a mass storage device will not work with it. The application has to provide direct digital camera support. Apple officially supports Adobe Photoshop Album and Elements for photo transfer, but any application that can read a proper digital camera transfer should work fine. Note as well that your iPhone must not be locked with a password, otherwise photo transfer will not work (this is presumably to prevent somebody from getting at your photos if they were to get their hands on your iPhone). If you’re using a password in the locking mode, ensure that you unlock the iPhone before trying to transfer pictures. If the iPhone doesn’t show up in ‘My Computer’, check that the ‘Bonjour Service’ is running. It wasn’t for me on windows XP, soon as I started that service the iPhone showed up in ‘My Computer’ To turn it on: right click ‘My Computer’ > Manage > “Services and Applications” > “Services” > right click service name and...

How to bypass the proxy settings in Google Chrome

If you are after for a way to modify the proxy used by Google Chrome, you will soon come to the conclusion that you are out of luck, since it is using the settings as specified by the operating system and the system administrator. God of War Collection

God of War Collection

Just before Christmas, on the shelf of a well-known French multi-store, I found a copy of the God of War Collection (GoWC) for the PS3. It was the American edition (Region 1) but since the game itself has no region restriction I wasted no time and my bank account was 40 euros shorter (you can now find it for around 20 euros). The GoWC is a remastered port of God of War and God of War 2 for the PlayStation 3, with both of them put on a single Blu-Ray disc. More information on the GoW Collection can be found on the relevant Wikipedia page. I still own the first game for the PS2. I had completed it when the game originally came out in 2005 and I was ready to proceed to another sit through on the PS3. The game ships with 36 trophies (this is a Sony requirement for all games submitted for certification from January 1, 2009). Graphics It is quite difficult to believe that it is a PS2 game running on the PS3. The graphics are simply fantastic. The upscaling job on the real-time graphics is fantastic. The only issue are the cutscenes. Some of them are rendered in really low resolution so the pixelation is an issue there. However, this does not apply to all the cutscenes. Some of them are viewable. If someone could enlighten me how (and why) they selected some of them to upscale, I would be really grateful. Gameplay Nothing has changed in the gameplay. All the puzzles are there, the same gore and tricks still apply to the gameplay. Also, now you have a list of trophies to unlock. As you progress the game, you will unlock most of them. There is a selection of trophies that are reserved for specific actions, like get a 200 Hits Combo, max out all Weapons and Magic, beat the game in under 5 hours e.t.c. Conclusion This is a fantastic collection, and remember that in the disc you also get God of War 2, which will the subject of another post in the same place. When Sony announced that the backwards compatibility with PS2 games will be discontinued, we all knew that somehow they will bring it back. They have done exactly that but in a different shape and form. Yes, they are cashing in from old PS2 titles, but if they...

Is PHP a scripting language or a high-level language?

Is PHP a scripting language or a high-level language?

I tend to get a few questions from people on whether PHP is a scripting language or a proper high level language. The term High Level Language refers to the higher level of abstraction from machine language. Rather than dealing with registers, memory addresses and call stacks, high-level languages deal with variables, arrays and complex arithmetic or boolean expressions. In addition, they have no opcodes that can directly compile the language into machine code, unlike low-level languages like Assembly language. Other features such as string handling routines, object-oriented language features and file input/output may also be present. In general, high-level languages make complex programming simpler, while low-level languages tend to produce more efficient code. In a high-level language, complex elements can be broken up into simpler, though still fairly complex, elements for which the language provides abstractions, keeping programmers from having to “reinvent the wheel”. Therefore, PHP is a high level language and it is completely unrelated to whether or not you use it to develop desktop applications. PHP is a language that is used primary for web development but this does not mean that this is the only use that it can have. You can develop PHP programs that run on a console and also desktop applications with a complete GUI. For more information, check out the official site and this tutorial for a quick introduction. So, you are in the wrong, believing that it is simply a web language. Finally, you can create web applications using PHP. You may want to have a serious look into the language and especially with the release of PHP5, sky is the limit. Remember that in any computer lanuage you can possibly do more than you think that you...
