Move Comments
WordPress does not have an option to move comments between posts or pages. Move Comments is a WordPress plugin that allows comments to be moved from one page or post to another.
It adds a sub-page under ‘Comments’ where you can filter comments by post or page title, tick the ones you want to move and finally select where to move them to.
Download
The plugin is provided as a compressed zip file. You can use any program that can uncompress zip files (like IZArc or StuffIt) to extract the plugin.
Latest version: 1.2
Installation Instructions
Extract the download on your computer and upload the move_comments folder to wp-content/plugins/. Finally, enable the plugin from the ‘Plugins’ page.
Submit a Problem or Feature Request
If you have downloaded the plugin and either you spotted a problem with it or have an idea for a new feature, then please submit it to Bugtracker rather than posting a comment in the web site.
Don’t forget to include as much information as possible and check whether someone else has submitted the same issue before you press the submit button.

I just started a niche blog and couldn’t make sense of why my first commenter would leave the comment where they did. I had never realized this problem in WP before, but didn’t dream there would be a plugin for moving it until I completely stumbled on your “move comments” plugin today. It worked like a charm. You’ve made my day! Thanks!

Thanks for the plugin, I had been planning something similar but now I
don’t need to!
I just thought I’d point out a slight issue with 2.6: they’ve introduced
version control, which I think is a pain and will disable. However, this
means the plugin is showing up multiple posts with the same title, and if a
comment is moved to an old version, it is invisible (although it can be
moved again). This isn’t your fault, but you probably need a check to make
sure the plugin only displays the current posts in the menus.
@Jonathan…good catch. Here’s a simple fix to solve the revision problem. In moco_db.php, we need to modify the function get_all_posts(). Change the following:
from $wpdb->postsorder by id desc
to
from $wpdb->postsWHERE post_status = 'publish'
order by id desc
That will do the trick!
Thanks for the plugin. After activation, I found this feature is for admin only so I de-commented the line ” if(current_user_can(‘moderate_comments’))” in the movecomments.php and I got a fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user(). Any idea how to fix that?
Awesome plugin with the above patch, thanks Jonathan
You’re welcome
Hi, I have been here for several times now and thought to sign your guestbook. Very nice! Keep up the good work…

I used your plug in to move a comment that had not yet been approved, to a post that did not yet have any comments. The comment is now lost, I cannot find it anywhere. I see it in the mysql database, but cannot find it in the wordpress blog.
Any ideas?
The recent upgrade to version 2, is that for any particular reason, will version 2 still be compatible with wordpress 2.6?
Be careful. There is a totally different plugin called “Move Comments” which is what you’ll get when you click the “update automatically” link on your blog plugins page. Since Apostolos’ plugin isn’t hosted at WordPress.org, you can’t update it automatically.
Ok well I still have version 1, but it doesn’t seem to work in 2.7.
hi. Thanks for plugin
perfect.
Regards
The plugin is now properly hosted on the WordPress.org site. I have updated the download link for the plugin and I am working on a new verson for WP2.7
Version 1.2 is now out.

Is it possible to implement two features?
1. Order posts and pages by title instead of post_ID in the combo boxes (I think it gets more friendly);
2. An option to change a comment parent ID, so we could fix threading problems (people that reply to a comment without clicking on the corresponding “reply” link).
Other than that: great plugin! THANKS!

Will this work w/ Wordpress 2.7.1 ?
Wonderful plugin, thank you!
One request – could you possibly add a “check all” link so that one could easily move all the comments from one post to another? Having to check each manually can take a long time.
Thank you again!!
Hello, working on http://www.preguntasdeportes.com and was wondering how to move a specific comment from one post to another. You see it seems the pluggin only moves the whole section, was wondering if im missing something or if you recomend something. Other than that, the pluggin seems to have worked wonderfully in terms of co-existing with other pluggins.
Congrats and thank you,
aguitta
Never mind! – Got it, wonderfull pluggin!.
I have WP 2.7.1.
This plugin worked so great! I am worried that when I get 100 hundred comments it will crash like some people wrote on WordPress. Anyway, I donated $5.00 american dollars to you!
I’m using your plugin and I like it very much. However, something odd has now happened when I move the comments from one post to another.
The default order of comments I have is earliest to most recent. I’ve noticed that when I move comments to a post which already has some comments, that the moved comments are placed in a “more recent” position, that is, toward the bottom, even if they occurred in real time earlier.
So when new comments are added to that post, they are placed in the middle (before the moved comments), not at the end, which is where they should be.
any ideas?
Like the plugin…Very helpful and simple to use.
Discovered ONE problem with it:
Say you move a comment from one page to another, and on that moved TO page there are comments that were made AFTER the “moving” comment: where that “moved” comment had a parent comment…On the new page, the recently moved comment shows up out of date/chronological order. The database can’t figure out where to put it, so it shows up last, even when you have your comments configured to have most recent comment last. This “moved” (though earlier) comment still shows up last, even after comments made later.
This really confuses readers who are naturally looking at the end of the comments for their most recent comment. (or vice versa, depending on how you’ve configured it.)
I had to go into the database and edit “parent” from its parent comment ( e.g. 222) to “0″, indicating no parent. Then the comment was placed (and any child comments) in the right order, chronologically.
On my above problem, sorry you weren’t there to provide any tech support. I can “fix” it but it would be nice if you could address this problem for other users who don’t want to or who don’t know how to fuss with the database .sql file.
